A special performance by Dianto Reed Quintet

The five talented wind players form Dianto Reed Quintet gave a remarkable performance on 19th May, Pentecost Sunday: ‘Pour la Postérité’.

Pentecost can symbolize inspiration, and these young Spanish musicians effortlessly conveyed this to an enthusiastic audience. What a joy of playing, what dynamism and performance. All pieces were played by heart, whether walking, sitting, or standing, and interacting with each other with great verve. While the oboist played a bright and moving melody, the clarinetist and saxophonist disappeared behind one of the three screens, which displayed a selection of quotes about Picasso interspersed with a brilliant array of images from his work. And then the bassoonist suddenly appeared, and the others started a new melody.
Stravinsky, Satie, Falla, and finally Schneemann, a whirlwind musical experience and show. The applause was so overwhelming that Dianto Quintet had to give a brilliant encore.

Many remained to enjoy the afterglow of inspiration and have a drink. They will surely preserve the memory of this concert for posterity. For this concert, there is only one right word in Spanish: ¡FENOMENAL!
