The professional jury, consisting of Annebeth Webb, Giuliano Sommerhalder, Frederike Berntsen, Gwylim Janssens and jury chairman Frank van den Brink, used different criteria to test the musicians. Frank van den Brink explains: “In the first instance [it’s about] musicality and whether there is a strong concept behind the performance. Ultimately, it’s about who is the most unique and irreplaceable”. Dianto Reed Quintet presented a program in which nature, circus and tango were connected in a playful way. They impressed the jury with their flexibility in playing, the excellent teamwork, playing everything by heart and by providing all this with a fascinating theatrical choreography.
